Privacy Policy

In short: we keep what you tell us, for as long as it is useful to you, and we do not sell it. Every message we send has a one-click way to stop it.

Who we are

Tzibbur is run by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [ADDRESS]. Questions about anything here go to privacy@tzibbur.com.

What we collect

What you tell us

  • The place you say you will be, and the dates.
  • What you are there for — a minyan, a group chat, tips — and which tfillos.
  • How many of you are travelling.
  • An email address or a mobile number, but only when you ask to be told something or to join a group. Nothing on this site needs one to work.
  • A display name and an avatar colour, if you set them.
  • Anything you write in a comment.

What happens on its own

  • A random token in a cookie, so this browser can find its own entries again without an account. It is not tied to a name.
  • A sign-in session, in two cookies, once you sign in.
  • Page views, through a self-hosted analytics proxy on our own domain — no third-party analytics script runs on a page that has a place on it.
  • What our anti-abuse check (Cloudflare Turnstile) needs to tell a person from a script.
  • Ordinary server logs, including an IP address, kept briefly.

Why we use it

  • To show how many people will be at a place, and to tell you when enough of them are for a minyan or a group.
  • To send you the thing you asked for — a reminder, an invite to a group, a code to sign in.
  • To keep the site up and to stop abuse.
  • To understand which parts of the site people use, in aggregate.

Messages, and how to stop them

When you give us an email address or a mobile number, the form says: By submitting, you agree to receive messages from tzibbur.com and/or associated partners. You can opt out at any time.

Stopping them takes one of two things:

  • The link at the foot of any message we send. It works without signing in, and it stops that address for good.
  • Advanced, in your account pane on the site, if you have an account.

A code you asked for so you can sign in is not something you can turn off — without it you could not get in — but it is only ever sent because you just asked for it.

What other people can see

  • Counts. How many people will be at a place on a day, and how many picked each thing. Never a list of who.
  • Your display name and avatar, on your comments and next to what you picked — and only to other signed-in people, and only if you leave that switched on.
  • A place is shown at a deliberately fuzzed point until you are actually part of what is forming there.

Who else holds it

We use a small number of services to run the site. They hold data on our behalf and are not allowed to use it for anything else:

  • Supabase — the database and sign-in codes.
  • Cloudflare — hosting, the content database, and the anti-abuse check.
  • Resend — sending email.
  • Google Places and Geoapify — turning what you type in the search box into a place. We send what you typed, not who you are.
  • PostHog — analytics, proxied through our own domain.
  • Hyvor Talk — comments, on the places where it is switched on.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising.

How long we keep it

  • Your dates and what you picked: while they are useful to you, and then as history in your own account until you delete them.
  • Contact details: until you opt out or ask us to delete them.
  • Server logs: a short retention, measured in days.
  • Comments: until you or a moderator remove them.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to privacy@tzibbur.com. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. You never need an account to use the site, and you can stop messages at any time as above.

Children

Tzibbur is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has given us something, write to us and we will remove it.

Where it is processed

The site runs on servers in several countries and your information may be processed outside the country you are in, under the safeguards those services provide.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on the site before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page is when it last changed.
